Research published in the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology (January 2024) states that the 2-Tert-Butyl-1,4-Benzoquinone (TBBQ) substance in instant noodles can be decomposed when consumed with protein foods.
This research makes many people believe that eating instant noodles with rice is better than eating instant noodles themselves.
However, the Chairperson of the Scientific, Innovation, Research, and Development of the Indonesian Nutrition Expert Association (Persagi), Marudut Sitompul, emphasized that the assumption was not quite right.
According to him, the study did not use rice as a sample, but protein in the form of a cysteine which is more easily digested by the body.

Is eating instant noodles with risky rice?
Nutritionist of Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Toto Sudargo, said that instant noodles have high sodium chloride (NaCl) content.
If consumed too often, can increase the risk of hypertension and kidney disorders.
Adding rice can indeed reduce NaCl levels per serving, but it still does not increase the more balanced nutritional content.
Because, both noodles and rice both contain carbohydrates, so that they lack good nutritional balance.
