Dong Siprig’s Chicken Rice has opened 4 decades, sold out in 5 hours

The long queue has become a daily view at the Dong Siprig Chicken Rice Warung, Banjar Abasan, Singapadu Tengah, Sukawati District, Gianyar, Bali. Because of the many loyal customers, Nyoman Siprig (67), not too long when selling. Only a few hours have been sold out nothing left.

Every day, Dong Siprig’s chicken rice is open every 05.00 WITA. As the name implies, Siprig serves a typical Balinese mixed rice menu with the main side dish of chicken meat.

A portion of Dong Siprig chicken rice consists of rice, shredded chicken, chicken crackers, boiled eggs, chicken liver, orek tempeh, and fried noodles. Sweet, guriih, and spicy taste combined into one. A portion of complete mixed rice can be obtained at a very affordable price. Namely, starting a portion of Rp 10 thousand, Rp 15 thousand, up to Rp 20 thousand.

Dong Siprig Chicken Rice Warung is a legendary in Gianyar. Until now it has existed for four decades or 40 years, even though the place is not too big. The location of Siprig’s selling is indeed one with home.

“It has been open for 40 years. The menu has remained the same since the first time it opened. Selling also from the past at home,” Siprig said when interviewed detikbali, Sunday (3/16/2025).

Dong Siprig Chicken Rice Warung Siprig was founded by Siprig 40 years ago. The simple naming makes customers not difficult to remember. Dong Siprig refers to the word ‘dong’ in Balinese, which means grandma. He is often called ‘Dong’ by his customers

Siprig is not alone running a business. He was assisted by his child and son -in -law. From the beginning until now, there is only a menu of chicken rice that is sold. The consistency of the taste is the key to the lasting stall of Dong Siprig Chicken Rice.

“This is (still) the first generation. I still sell with the help of children and son -in -law,” he said.

Dong Siprig revealed that he started cooking and preparing merchandise since 01.00 WITA every day. His business paid off because his merchandise was sold out in only five to six hours.

“The most buyers arrived at 05.00 WITA and 09.00 WITA. At 10:00 or 11.00 WITA, the merchandise was up. Moreover, if it was Sunday. It was even more crowded,” he said.

Interestingly, Siprig customers are not only data from the Sukawati and Gianyar regions. Many are willing to come all the way from Gatot Subroto (Denpasar), Kerobokan, Nusa Dua (Badung), to Klungkung.

Dong Siprig’s chicken rice is indeed more in demand after being viral in the social media (social media). One of the buyers, Nyoman Marsithi (60), revealed that the rice mixed with Dong Siprig’s chicken according to his taste. However, according to him, there needs to be a variety of vegetable menus to make it more delicious.

“There is lack of vegetables. Maybe it can be ointment so it doesn’t dry,” Masithi said.

Another buyer, Putu Yesi (35), also admitted that the combination of rice and side dishes of Dong Siprig’s chicken rice fits on his tongue. “This is delicious. It tastes sweet and spicy,” he said.
