East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) officially has a new leader for the 2025-2030 period. One figure that attracted attention was Johni Asadoma who was elected as Deputy Governor of NTT. Johni was appointed with Governor Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena by President Prabowo Subianto, Thursday (2/20/2025).
With a long background in the police, achievements in the international arena, as well as their contribution in the field of sports, Johni Asadoma is expected to be able to bring changes to regional development. The following is a brief profile of the former NTT Police Chief who is now the deputy governor.
Background and education
Johni Asadoma was born on January 8, 1966 in Denpasar, Bali, and spent his childhood in Kupang, NTT. He is the sixth child of eight siblings, born to the couple Daniel Asadoma, who came from Alor, and Christina Philippines Yacomina Amalo, who came from Rote.

His academic journey began by joining the Police Academy (Akpol) in 1989. He then continued his studies to win the highest title in his career.

In addition, he is also known for his involvement in world peace missions. Johni Asadoma once led the Garuda Bhayangkara FPU Indonesian contingent to join the UN peacekeeping forces in Darfur, Sudan (2008) and served in Bosnia Herzegovina. For his dedication, he received various international awards, including from the United Nations (UN).
Personal life
Johni Asadoma married Vera Christina Sirait and was blessed with two children:
- Veronica Gabriela Margaret Asadoma, a graduate of Deakin University Melbourne, who is also the daughter of Indonesia NTT 1 2024.
- Daniel Benjamin Asadoma, who is currently studying in Australia.
In the NTT 2024 elections, Johni Asadoma was paired with Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena. This duet won 37.33% of the votes, outperforming other couples.
With a combination of experience in the police, involvement in international missions, as well as leadership at NTT, Johni Asadoma is expected to be able to encourage development and improve the welfare of the NTT community with the elected Governor, Melki Laka Lena.
