Bawaslu NTB forms 95 Election Participatory Villages for Evaluation of Democracy

The Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) of NTB Province formed 95 participatory election villages in all regions in NTB. Election participatory villages are tasked with evaluating a program to strengthen democracy after the implementation of the 2024 elections.

The Chairperson of the NTB Bawaslu Community Participation, Community Participation, Community Participation, NTB, Hasan Basri, said that the 2024 election series had been completed with the pronunciation of the dispute between the election results in the City of Bima.

He considered the program to strengthen democracy continued even though the schedule for the election and the 2024 elections had ended.

“Our activities reject money politics, SARA politicization in general elections may not be completed even though the elections and elections are over,” Hasan said through a video conference in Mataram, Wednesday (5/2/2025).

Hasan stated that the local elections that went smoothly could not be separated from the role of the media and related policy makers. “Of course we continue to take care of this cooperation for the implementation of the 2029 elections,” he explained.

Hasan noted Bawaslu NTB in collaboration with 58 institutions, campuses, OPDs, professional organizations, to community organizations to strengthen election supervision. In addition, 95 participatory villages throughout NTB have been officially formed.

“There are 1,022 external reporting support, and 439 social media publications. In essence, Bawaslu encourages literacy about the dangers of SARA politicization and money politics even though outside the election schedule,” he explained.

The Chairperson of the NTB Parliament Journalists Forum, Fahrul Mustofa, explained that the cooperation with the media could be strengthened by ensuring the availability of information needs for the community.

According to him, the most important thing is to help the media maintain independence in carrying out journalistic tasks. “Do not force the media to contain press releases as the institutional public relations point of view because the media has independence,” said Arul, his nickname.

Arul stated that the organizer and election supervisor could provide broader access in the provision of public information.

The Chairman of the NTB Information Commission, Suaeb Qury, said there were no reports of information violations committed by the NTB Bawaslu during the 2024 elections.

“We have not received complaints from social media information and media about the performance of Bawaslu that violates the election provisions,” he said.

He also requested that the oversight of the 2029 elections could be further enhanced in order to increase the awareness of democracy in the midst of NTB people.
