KOMPAS.com – “Already in Malaysia, it’s a loss if you don’t stop by Jalan Alor,” The tour guide’s words succeeded in moving my feet to Jalan Alor on the last night of the trip in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, precisely on Thursday evening (19/12/2024).
According to information circulating on the internet, Jalan Alor is a culinary spot that is busy with tourists.
If usually in Indonesia the evening culinary spot that I visit is Pasar Lama Tangerang, this time I was curious about the types of snacks on Jalan Alor.

So, armed with courage and a digital map, I took online transportation to Jalan Alor.
Alor Lane, a nighttime culinary spot in Malaysia
I arrived at Jalan Alor at around 22.10 local time. This is quite an evening time for culinary hunting. But here, as the night goes on this area gets busier.
The atmosphere of Jalan Alor is almost the same as the Chinatown area. The street is filled with culinary delights from China, India, Thailand, the Middle East and local culinary delights that attract anyone who passes by.
Plus, decorative twinkling lights dotted the streets, making the evening culinary activities even more lively.
One thing that caught my attention was the Musang King durian, its alluring aroma managed to tickle my nose enough to stop by.

The price for one kilogram of fresh Musang King durian here starts from 55 Malaysian ringgit, or around Rp. 198,000.
There are also rows of tables and seating along the road, so you don’t need to be confused about finding a place to eat.
But unfortunately, not even 10 minutes before I walked along Jalan Alor, the rain suddenly fell, and the traders were hesitating to put up tent umbrellas to protect the buyers.
Uniquely, all the umbrellas used are similar, namely large and rectangular in shape. So, when each umbrella is opened, one umbrella and the other will join together to form a roof.

I didn’t have time to buy any snacks because the rain was getting heavier and I couldn’t get around more freely.
However, my curiosity about Jalan Alor paid off. Maybe if I have the opportunity to return to Malaysia, I will return to Jalan Alor and eat a portion of musang king durian.
