Tomoro Coffee Targets to Have 1,000 Stores by 2024

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The coffee chain from Indonesia, Tomoro Coffee, recorded sales of 40 million cups of coffee throughout 2023 in 600 outlets throughout Indonesia.

Super Wang, CEO of Tomoro Coffee Indonesia targets a total of 1,000 outlets in Indonesia by the end of 2024.

“Indonesia is one of the big markets for coffee consumption. In the last 10 years, coffee consumption in Indonesia has grown very quickly,” said Wang at the Tomoro Celtic Cloud Series press conference, Tuesday (29/10/2024).

The emergence of this modern coffee shop is still relatively new. Tomoro Coffee is known to have been founded in August 2022.

Since two years ago, the development of coffee outlets that rely on Arabica coffee beans has been significant enough to open a partnership business system (franchise).

“Our partner opening in Tulung Agung managed to sell 1,500 cups of coffee, while in Selong and Blitar, each managed to sell 1,100 cups of coffee on one opening day,” said Wang.

Regarding business strategy, Wang answered that the figure of 600 outlets in Indonesia is still relatively small, considering that up to now, Tomoro Coffee has only reached 60 cities in Indonesia.

“Until now, Tomoro Coffee has not yet entered Papua and Maluku, even though there are many people there, the Indonesian market is very wide,” he said.

Not to mention, seeing the growth of around 60,000 coffee outlets in Indonesia, Wang said, Tomoro Coffee has only touched one percent of the total coffee business in Indonesia.

Furthermore, this coffee shop is also targeting opening other outlets in Southeast Asia, especially Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand in the near future.

Currently, Tomoro Coffee has opened one outlet in China, six outlets in Singapore and 12 outlets in the Philippines.

“We see that in Southeast Asia, there is potential for around 3,000 outlets,” concluded Wang.
