Recently, hot weather has hit a number of areas in Indonesia, including Jakarta. The average air temperature during the day is more than 30 C. In this condition, it is important that the body remains well hydrated.
Hydration itself can be obtained from water intake. Either from drinks or fruit and vegetables that are rich in water. However, most people prefer to drink cold drinks to reduce the feeling of heat.
The impact of drinking cold water in hot weather
Drinking cold water may indeed be able to quench your thirst, but you also need to understand the effects of cold water on the body when drunk in hot weather so you can choose wisely.

There is a physiological response that occurs when cold water is consumed. One of the main problems is narrowing of the blood vessels.
According to the Times of India, cold water causes blood vessels to constrict. This condition has the potential to disrupt blood circulation.
This effect will be more pronounced in people who have cardiovascular problems.
2. Digestive disorders
Cold water can make fat from solid foods more difficult to digest. This causes discomfort because the body has difficulty processing the solid fat.
Sudden changes in temperature due to cold water can also disrupt the digestive system and increase the risk of stomach cramps.

The body needs to expend energy to bring the cold water you drink back to core temperature.
This can delay fluid absorption. In fact, it is important to keep the body hydrated during hot weather.
In hot weather, drinking water at room temperature or slightly cold is recommended. Room temperature water is gentler on the body and can increase hydration.
