These two foods are effective in maintaining intestinal health and preventing flu

Recently, experts revealed that consuming just two foods can improve gut health and prevent flu symptoms. So, what food is meant?

Several types of illnesses often attack a person, ranging from coughs and flu to digestive problems. Moreover, in the rainy season like this, a person is usually more susceptible to being exposed to viruses and bacteria that can make them fall ill.

A health expert at Landys Chemist named Rhysa Phommachanh revealed two foods that need to be eaten more. The food is garlic and honey which according to him has been proven to be healthy, reports getsurrey.co.uk (07/01/2025).

Rhysa explained that garlic is rich in prebiotic insulin fiber which can improve intestinal health and is believed to have antimicrobial and antiviral properties to fight disease and relieve flu symptoms.

Meanwhile, honey is also rich in antioxidants, such as flavonoids and polyphenols, which can balance the immune system and ward off disease.

Although these two foods are recommended by expert Rhyse, other nutrition experts also recommend adding several other types of food to increase the body’s immune system.

Nutritionists from Ski Famille recommend adding spinach and citrus fruits to your daily diet. Spinach is rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, and beta-carotene which can increase the immune system’s ability to fight infections.

Spinach can be cooked briefly, for example boiled so that this vegetable retains its nutrients while making the nutrients more easily absorbed by the body.

Citrus fruits, such as oranges, lemons, or limes can also be added. Consuming oranges can fight colds and other diseases. Oranges are also a fruit with high levels of vitamin C and antioxidants which can improve the body’s immune system, so it can fight infections and flu.

Sophia Moore, a nutritionist from Ski Famille, said, “The immune system is the body’s best line of defense. Supporting it through nutritional intake is not only effective, but also sustainable. Simple changes, such as incorporating more nutritious foods into your daily diet can help the body stay strong and tough all year round.”

If the body is malnourished or the nutrition in a person’s body is reduced, then they will experience decreased immune function. Therefore, supporting immune cells by consuming nutritious foods and drinks is very important.
