The owner of Gudeg Yu Hadi dies at the age of 86, his younger brother Yu Djum


KOMPAS.com – Patinah or Yu Hadi, one of the legendary gudeg sellers in Yogyakarta, has died at the age of 86.

“It’s true (Yu Hadi died),” said the late Yu Hadi’s son, Heri, when confirmed Kompas.com, Tuesday (26/11/2024).

Yu Hadi died on Sunday (24/11/2024) at Bethesda Hospital Yogyakarta after feeling ill some time before.

“He died due to a wound in his intestines,” explained Heri.

The younger brother of the owner of Gudeg Yu Djum was buried the next day, Monday (25/11/2024).

This sad news from the Yogyakarta culinary legend was responded to by netizens who are also fans of Yu Hadi’s gudeg.

This can be seen from the comments in the Instagram post @wonderfuljogja who reported this sad news.

During his lifetime, Yu Hadi usually sold at a stall located in Kauman Village, Gondomanan, Yogyakarta.

He started selling from the morning at 06.00 WIB until before 10.00 WIB when his merchandise had run out.

For 40 days after his death, the Gudeg Yu Hadi stall will be temporarily closed. The food business will be continued by his son.
