After the rendang was declared missing when it would be cooked at Benteng Kuto Besak (BKB) Palembang, Willie is now reported to the South Sumatra Regional Police (South Sumatra) by the Ryan Gumay Lawfirm Law.

The reporting of Willie because the content he made was actually considered to make noisy and damage the image and good name of Palembang residents.
“Right last night, we went to the South Sumatra Regional Police. To report public complaints and related to this noise, our report has been received with LP-20250322-3F227 LP No. Saturday (3/22/2025),” Gustryan said, Sunday (3/23/2025).
Gustryan said reporting to Willie Salim in order to cause a deterrent effect and lessons for other creator content when creating content without considering social and legal impacts.
“We complete the complaint (this report-red), with some evidence that we have submitted to the South Sumatra Police Cyber Crime Subdit which has also been responded to through the South Sumatra Banpol account,” he explained.
Gustryan hopes that the report will be followed up soon. Meanwhile, he also revealed that he would continue to oversee the process of the report.
Willie is suspected of violating the criminal offenses of Article 28 paragraph 2 and 3 in conjunction with Article 45 paragraph 1, 2 and 3 juncto Article 27 paragraph 1 and 3 of Law Number 1 of 2024 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE).

Chronology of events
Previously, Willie was holding a 200 kg rendang cooking activity at BKB Palembang to break the fast together with residents.
However, when he left the location for 15 minutes to go to the toilet, Willie found that the rendang meat had disappeared taken by residents.
In the video uploaded by Willie, it appears so many residents surrounded the cauldron and took meat using various tools such as dipper, pans, to plastic bags.
This also caused debate on social media by assuming Palembang residents did not have ethics.
On the other hand, Willie also did not escape criticism because it was considered not ready to make such events.
Palembang residents did not accept, make a matching match
As a result of the narrative that Palembang residents do not have ethics, they will hold a counter -cooked event titled ‘Rendang Social Recovery’ which is scheduled to be held on Thursday (3/27/2025) at BKB.

The purpose of the event was to restore the image of the city of Palembang was considered tarnished due to the viral content.
The committee targets 1,000 kg of meat to be cooked and distributed to the public.
Willie Salim Apologizes
After the viral rendang cooking content, Willie also appeared in public through a video of an apology on Saturday (3/22/2025).
He apologized to Palembang residents who felt hurt by the content they made.
“I apologize profusely for all Palembang residents who were hurt because of this viral rendang incident. Many narratives are unpleasant to Palembang residents,” he said through Instagram @Willie27_.
Willie also stressed that the disappearance of the rendang meat was not the fault of Palembang residents, but his own fault was due to lack of preparation.
He acknowledged that this kind of event was the first time held by him.
“Sorry because this is the first time I cook for that many people. And my shadow can open together with thousands of residents of Palembang City, it’s more than enough,” he said.
He asserted there was no disappointment with the loss of rendang meat.
In fact, he was happy to see the enthusiasm of the residents, because in the end the rendang was cooked indeed to be distributed to residents.
“Honestly, I was just surprised to see the enthusiasm of the extraordinary citizens,” he said.
Willie said this was a lesson for him. He claimed that he did not engineer the rendang meat that was invaded by the residents.
“I just didn’t expect that to happen and that was my stupidity. Please don’t blame the Palembang residents,” Willie said.
He said, if he cooks early with more mature and neat preparation, it will not happen.
“I apologize profusely,” he concluded.
