The best -selling Padang cuisine sold from the trunk of the car in Denpasar

This Padang cuisine is selling well. Padang Anita cuisine or better known as ‘Padang Anita cuisine uses a car’ selling every day on Jalan Tantular.

“The reason (selling in the car) is because there is no money for renting shop houses, expensive shophouses. So, just use it using a car,” said the owner of Padang Anita cuisine, Dedi Supandi (40), when met on Jalan Tantular, Denpasar, Bali, Saturday (12/4/2025).

That is the reason that made Dedi turn the trunk of the Suzuki Baleno sedan into a sales stall. The car luggage is modified so that it can accommodate 15 Padang cuisine menus.

Starting from beef rendang, chicken rendang, spicy sour squid, to the headlips. The cheapest price at that place is Rp 12 thousand and the most expensive Rp. 20 thousand.

For a portion of Rp 12 thousand containing omelette, rice, cassava vegetables, and chili sauce. Or it could also be this omelette replaced with fritters, chicken gizzard, or chicken intestine.

“If on Monday to Thursday we can bring 20 kilograms (kg) to 25 kg of rice. If Friday to Sunday 15 kg or 10 kg. It is always used up (every day),” he said.

Although not from Minangkabau, West Sumatra, the taste of Padang Anita’s cuisine is not much different from Padang cuisine in general. Dedi said his wife, Anita, previously worked as a cook at one of Padang’s restaurants for one year.

Dedi explained that selling Padang cuisine in the car had been four months ago. They usually sell from 10:00 to 14:00 WITA. Not infrequently have to close faster because it is sold out.

“(Consumers) are not Indonesian, but Japanese. There are also Australians,” he said.

There are also many buyers from the Denpasar area. Starting from the Monang-Maning area to Teuku Umar.

The average buyer ordered about four packs and at most 12-15 packs. By selling in the car, Dedi can pocket a dirty turnover of Rp. 5-6 million per day. In addition, selling on the edge of the Tantular Street, there is no levy.

One of the buyers, Putu Dedik (34), claimed to often buy Padang Anita cuisine. In fact he can buy four times a week.

“(The concept of selling) is unique, especially in the car. Different from the others and for the taste is also delicious and certainly cheaper sought,” I am a man from Payangan, Gianyar, this.

He said the first time found the concept of selling Padang Seunik cuisine. While his favorite menu is lung and rendang.

“In terms of price, it is economical, cheaper and also delicious,” he said.
