The origins of Thailand’s volcanic durian
Launch The Thaigervolcanic durian is exclusively grown and harvested in the Southern Thailand area. This durian has also received GAP certification which guarantees its safety and quality.
This variety originated from Saiyut Jannsawang’s fruit garden in Na Khao village, Thang province, Thailand.
With more than 350 durian trees spread across 15 hectares, Saiyut’s garden is said to be the first known volcanic durian garden in southern Thailand.
Due to huge demand, Saiyut worked tirelessly to harvest the durians, which were estimated to weigh around 5,000 kilograms.
“Given our current selling price of one kilogram, we generate revenues of almost 10,000 baht per day or more than 1 million baht per year,” he said.
What makes the Thai volcanic durian special, he said, is its organic cultivation, thin shell and rich, aromatic flesh. The seeds are also smaller than regular durian varieties, and the aroma is not as strong.
This Thai volcanic durian also has a rich texture creamy and melts in the mouth, but is not fibrous. The taste is also famous for its sweet, creamy balance. Therefore it is twice as delicious as ordinary Monthong durian.
Customers who have tasted this fruit describe it as very delicious. Thus, triggering high demand for Thai volcanic durian.
