There are actually many food stalls selling tilapia menus in the Kintamani area, Bangli, Bali. However, you can also enjoy this freshwater fish dish in various other places in Bali. One of them is at Nirmala Food Stall, in Takmung Village, Banjarangkan, Klungkung.

The owner of Warung Nirmala, Ni Kadek Rustini, shares her favorite recipe which is sold out every day by buyers. He prepares tilapia fish with Balinese chopped spices.

According to Rustini, the process of making tilapia is actually quite simple. The first step, he said, is to clean the tilapia fish by removing the entrails. The scales must also be cleaned. After that, the fish is split and sliced ​​on the sides so that the spices are absorbed.

“After the fish is clean, continue frying it until it is half cooked. Next, drain it and prepare the chopped spices that have been made previously,” said Rustini to detikBaliSunday (4/8/2024).

Next, pour the chopped spices into the frying pan and add enough water. When the water boils, Rustini pours in the coconut milk and stirs it gently. After that, he again poured the tilapia fish that had been half-fried earlier.

“Here the main process of cooking tilapia is actually done. The fish isfor real until a little water remains, the time is around 10 to 15 minutes,” he explained.

To make the fish taste even more delicious, Rustini also added flavorings and bay leaves. After it was cooked, he left the processed real tilapia fish in the frying pan and only took them one by one when there were buyers.

A serving of nyat-nyat fish prepared by Rustini is also equipped with undis vegetables, plecing kale, and green bean sprouts. He added peanut sauce to the kale plecing.

“The taste is much better. One bite contains fish, plecing and undis vegetables, even more delicious with the savory combination of fried peanuts,” said Rustini.

Rustini charges IDR 45 thousand for one serving of real tilapia fish complete with a drink. In a day, Rustini can sell 150 portions of real tilapia fish to buyers who eat on the spot. This does not include buyers who take home up to 100 boxes of food per day.

Apart from selling food, Rustini’s business premises is also equipped with a fishing pond. Even so, he brings tilapia fish directly from fishermen in Batur, Kintamani, Bangli. He reasoned that tilapia fish from Lake Batur had taste.

Nirmala Food Stall is open every day from 10.00 WIT to 17.00 WIT. According to Rustini, his food stall is often visited by employees, officials and ministries when there are events in Bali.
