Kompas.com – Soto Lamongan again carved achievements in the international culinary arena. In the list of “Best Rated Chicken Soups of the World 2025” released by Taste Atlas, the typical Soto of East Java is ranked third of the 44 most delicious chicken soup in the world.
With a value of 4.4 stars, Soto Lamongan was only a little adrift of Tom Kha Gai from Thailand and Ciorba Radauteana from Romania who got a value of 4.5 stars.
Soto Lamongan is a typical dish from Lamongan Regency, East Java. This soto uses a sprinkling of koya, which is a mixture of fried shrimp crackers and mashed garlic. Koya gives a distinctive taste that is tasty and thickens a little sauce.
Soto Lamongan sauce is bright yellow, the result of the use of turmeric as one of the main spices. Other spices used include lemongrass, coriander, cumin, galangal, garlic, and ginger.
