Quoting telemed.ihc.id, of the many types of meat, chicken and beef are the types of meat that many people like. In fact, chefs as famous as Gordon Ramsay (a British chef and restaurant owner with a Michelin Stars award) really like to eat and process these two meats. However, beef or goat is healthier, right?
Look at the nutritional content
It feels like goat meat has already become a ‘scapegoat’ for increasing body cholesterol. The reason is, many people think that goats contain high cholesterol. However, this assumption is actually wrong, because according to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the cholesterol, total fat, protein and calorie content of goat meat is lower than chicken, beef and lamb.
Experts say that the cholesterol content per 85 gram serving of goat is 63.8 milligrams. Meanwhile, with the same dish, the cholesterol content in beef is 73.1. What about protein, fat, calcium and iron which are very important for the body?
Experts say that a 100 gram serving of goat contains 16.6 grams of protein, 9.2 grams of fat, 11 milligrams of calcium and 1 milligram of iron. Meanwhile, beef contains 18.8 grams of protein, 14 grams of fat, 11 milligrams of calcium and 2.8 mg of iron.
What you have to remember, even though the total calorie, fat, cholesterol and protein content of goat meat is lower than beef, that doesn’t mean you can eat it ‘as you wish’.
Practice Correctly
It’s no longer a secret that high cholesterol levels and high blood pressure are the causes of increased risk of heart disease. So, speaking of heart disease, both beef and goat meat are often accused of being foods that often trigger it.
Actually, this assumption is not completely wrong, because experts say that excessive consumption of red meat (such as goat and beef) can cause various health problems. Starting from heart disease to colon cancer.
