RI Coffee Exports Reach 342 Thousand Tons, This is the Destination Country

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that coffee exports during January-September 2024 reached 342.33 thousand tons or US$ 1.49 billion. Meanwhile, Indonesia’s coffee imports are relatively smaller, only 67.65 thousand tons or US$ 319.84 million.

“In January to September 2024, Indonesia’s coffee exports reached 342.33 thousand tons or worth US$ 1.49 billion. Meanwhile coffee imports were relatively small, namely 67.65 thousand tons or worth US$ 319.84 million,” said Plt. Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti in a Press Conference, Tuesday (15/10/2024).

Furthermore, both coffee exports and imports are dominated by robusta coffee which is not roasted or decaffeinated. The export volume of robusta coffee was 148.34 thousand tons. Meanwhile, imports of robusta coffee were only 35.40 thousand tons.

Apart from that, the exported coffee commodities are processed coffee based on extracts, essences or concentrates containing added sugar with a volume of 74.48 thousand tons. Lastly, instant coffee packaged weighing less than 20 kg amounted to 54.37 thousand tonnes.

The main destination countries for Indonesian coffee exports include the Philippines with a volume of 85 thousand tons, the United States with 31.73 thousand tons, and Malaysia with 32.33 thousand tons.

“The main destination countries for Indonesian coffee exports are the Philippines, the United States and Malaysia. Meanwhile, the countries of origin for Indonesian coffee imports are coffee from Vietnam, coffee from Brazil and Malaysia,” he added.
