RI Coffee and Snacks Sell IDR 14 Billion in the US

The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) San Francisco invited eight companies to collaborate in food promotion at the 44th Winter Fancy Food Show (WFFS), San Francisco, California, United States (US). The promotion was created to expand market access and Indonesian products in the US market.

WFFS itself was attended by 20,000 visitors. Held on 13-15 January 2019, Indonesia created a pavilion with the theme The Remarkable Indonesia. The food and beverage products being promoted range from organic tea, kecombrang chili sauce, walnut jam, snacks beans, cooking spices, herbal coffee drinks from Papua, Sumatra to Toraja.

These various products are promoted by eight companies, such as PT Kapal Api Global, PT Manohara Asri, Jawa Import, Epiglo LLC (Mustika Ratu products, Opal Coffee), PT Harendong Green Farm, Javara Indonesia, PT Rasaprima Sukses, and Rasa Rempah Nusantara.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Economic Consul of the Indonesian Consulate General in San Francisco, Berhan A. Muqtadir, stated that during the exhibition, participants recorded a total transaction potential of around US$ 1.03 million or Rp. 14.5 billion. Possibly, there is another potential after the meeting between partisans and local partners who are interested in typical Indonesian food and drinks.

“Indonesia needs to strengthen the product category market chips And snacks to be offered to WFFS visitors in 2019, because this type of product is a category specialty foods with the third highest sales level in the US market with total sales of US$ 3.84 billion in 2017,” said Berhan in his written statement, Saturday (19/1/2019).

But apart from that, according to him, the coffee and chocolate market in the US is also very wide open. WFFS is an annual trade show on the West Coast of the US.

This year WFFS was attended by 1,500 participants from around 30 countries and attended by around 20,000 visitors from retail companies, food service providers, importers, exporters, distributors and wholesale.
