Apart from durian which is often considered the ‘king of fruit’, apparently there are eggs which are considered the ‘king of superfoods’. This is because of the nutritional features that eggs have.

Eggs are a food that has become a part of many people’s lives. In fact, this food has been around since time immemorial and is renowned for offering a great nutritional profile.

Eggs are rich in protein and contain 13 important vitamins and minerals. According to experts called the Times of India, 60% of the high-quality protein in eggs can be found in the egg white. Meanwhile, egg yolks contain the rest, along with healthy fats, vitamins, minerals and important antioxidants.

Eggs contain various nutrients. Each large egg contains 24 calories with 5 grams of fat, 6 grams of protein and 9 essential amino acids.

Eggs are also rich in iron, phosphorus, selenium, and vitamins A, B12, B2, and B5. According to experts, this food also contains around 169 milligrams of choline, an important nutrient for smooth brain function.

With such nutritional content, consuming eggs is the right choice to meet daily nutritional needs.

On average, 2 eggs contain 82% of daily vitamin D requirements, 50% of daily folate requirements, 25% of daily riboflavin requirements, and 40% of daily selenium requirements.

Protein has an important role for body health. Adequate protein intake can help strengthen and repair muscles and tissues.

High protein content can be found in eggs. One egg contains 6.3 grams of protein. Additionally, eggs contain 9 essential amino acids which are great for effective muscle growth, recovery and maintenance.

Apart from being a source of protein, eggs also help increase levels of high density lipoprotein (HDL) or ‘good’ cholesterol which helps reduce the risk of heart disease.
