Recipe for Bandrek, a spiced drink to warm the body


KOMPAS.com – During the rainy season or when the weather is uncertain, the body needs warm and healthy drinks. Spiced drinks such as bandrek could be the right choice.

There are several ingredients needed to make bandrek such as coconut sugar, ginger, cinnamon, cloves and pandan leaves.

Bandrek material:

  • 1 liter of clean water
  • 4 tbsp coconut sugar (fine comb)
  • 6 cm ginger (grilled, peeled and bruised)
  • 5 cm cinnamon
  • 5 cloves
  • 2 pandan leaves (tie)
  • 1/2 tbsp salt

1. Heat water, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, pandan leaves, coconut sugar and salt in a saucepan over medium heat until it boils and releases a fragrant aroma.

2. Remove and strain before serving, drink the bandrek immediately while it is warm.
