Not Just Geef Mij Maar Fried Rice, These Are Wieteke van Dort’s Songs with an Indonesian Flavor


Suara.com – Sad news has enveloped the Wieteke van Dort family. The singer, known in Indonesia for his song ‘Geef Mij Maar Nasi Goreng’, died at the age of 81 on July 15 2024.

The owner’s full name, Louisa Johanna Theodora Van Dort, was receiving treatment for the cancer she was suffering from.

Wieteke van Dort is a Dutch singer, comedian and actress who was born in Surabaya. He was born on May 16, 1943.

His childhood and adolescence were spent in Surabaya, which at that time was still a Dutch colony.

At the age of 14, Wieteke van Dort and his family vacationed in the Netherlands. But apparently that was the last time he stayed in Indonesia.

The Wieteke van Dort family could not return to Indonesia, because President Soekarno nationalized all Dutch companies in the country.

Finally, he continued his life in The Hague, Netherlands. Wieteke van Dort studied at drama school. He also joined the drama group Nieuwe Komedie/Toneelgroep Arena, and started his career in the world of performance and music.

Wieteke van Dort began her career in radio and television after marrying Theo Moody. One of the best known is her role as Aunt Lien on The Late Lien Show.

The program presents Indonesian culture. Wieteke performed works with Indonesian nuances, such as music, traditional dances, and stories of the past of the Dutch East Indies.
