DENPASAR, BALIPOST.com – Recently, muscat grapes have become a topic of conversation due to the discovery of pesticide contamination in Thailand and Malaysia. This grape is currently popular among fruit lovers.

Apart from being delicious when eaten straight, muscat grapes are also often used as food decoration because of their bright color, which beautifies the dish.

Launching from the muscat-wines website, Muscat grapes are known as one of the most ancient types of grapes in the world. Its recorded history stretches back to the Greek era, where it was cultivated more than 3000 years ago, making it the oldest grape in existence.

This variety is likely the ancestor of all types of grapes that exist today. Today, there are hundreds of Muscat grape varieties and hybrids in circulation.

The term ‘muscat’ is taken from the Latin word ‘muscus’, which means musk. This name describes the distinctive musky aroma of this grape.

Muscat grapes generally have low levels of acidity, tannin and alcohol content. The golden sweet taste that is clear to syrupy is the characteristic of Muscat wine.

With its characteristic sweet taste, crisp texture and strong aroma, Shine Muscat grapes are one of the most popular types on the premium fruit market.

Differences from Ordinary Wine

According to the cookin.id site, even though they have the same green color, muscat grapes show many differences compared to ordinary green grapes. Common green grapes are generally yellowish green and oval in shape.

Meanwhile, muscat grapes come with a brighter, shinier green color and a rounder shape. Generally, muscat grapes do not contain seeds and are larger in size than ordinary green grapes.

In terms of taste, while regular green grapes have a sweet and slightly tart taste, muscat grapes offer a sweeter and juicier taste, with nuances of pear and melon. In terms of texture, the flesh of muscat grapes feels crunchier and denser, but still juicy with a soft greenish yellow color. Because of its distinctive sweet taste, muscat grapes are often used as an ingredient in sweet drinks such as wine.

Muscat grapes are also known for their unique musk aroma. For this reason, many experts believe that muscat grapes are one of the easiest types of grapes to recognize just by smelling the aroma.

Muscat grapes are rich in various vitamins such as A, C, E, and K, magnesium, as well as natural polyphenolic compounds which have antioxidant properties. This nutritional content provides various health benefits, including maintaining vision, supporting the body’s immune system, regulating blood sugar levels, reducing high blood pressure, and maintaining healthy skin.
