The body naturally, fruit is often a healthy food choice. However, there are those who believe that fruit is unhealthy because of the sugar content in it.

Jamie Nadeau, a dietitian at Balanced Nutritionist, said that it is true that fruit contains sugar. However, it is natural sugar or fructose. And it is still safe to consume as long as it is not excessive.

After all, fruit not only offers a sweet taste, but also provides energy and is rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. All these nutrients are very necessary to reduce the risk of disease.

In fact, research shows that each additional daily serving of fruit can reduce the risk of death from cardiovascular disease by about 5%. So, it is very wrong if fruit is said to be unhealthy.

2. Berries are healthier than other fruits

Even though berries often steal attention because they are low in sugar and high in fiber and antioxidants, that doesn’t mean they are the healthiest compared to other types of fruit.

“All fruit contains a ton of important nutrients that the body needs to function optimally,” says dietitian Kristin Grimes of NourishED Colorado.

For example, consuming two kiwis a day has been shown to help relieve constipation in adults. Meanwhile, mango provides copper and folate which are good for pregnant women.

Likewise with grapes, although they are sometimes criticized for their higher sugar content, grapes contain high amounts of antioxidants to protect the heart from cancer.
