Ministry of Creative Economy Confirms the Indonesia Spice Up The World Program is Still Continuing


JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Indonesia Spice Up The World, Indonesia’s culinary diplomacy efforts, began to be promoted in 2020.

Four years ago, this program targeted the opening of 4,000 Indonesian restaurants abroad by 2024.

The government provides support in the form of providing herbs and spices to promote Indonesian culinary delights through tourism products and the creative economy.

Initially, Indonesia Spice Up The World was initiated by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf).

Even though this ministry has been split into the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Creative Economy (Kemenekraf), the government emphasizes that Indonesia Spice Up The World is still running.

“We will continue Indonesia Spice Up The World because this is part of our form of gastro diplomacy,” said Dessy Ruhati, Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Creative Economy.

Indonesia Spice Up The World is now the focus of the Ministry of Creative Economy to introduce the country’s rich spices abroad.

Dessy said, through the use of Indonesian herbs and spices, Spice Up The World will support the added value of creative and creative exports.

“In the past, we targeted 4,000 Indonesian restaurants in other countries and currently we have only achieved approximately 1,500 restaurants,” added Dessy at the year-end press conference at the Sapta Pesona Building, Central Jakarta, Friday (20/12/2024) .

Dessy hopes that this program will not only be limited to exporting raw herbs and spices, but also ready-to-eat food products to increase added value.
