KOMPAS.com – As the name suggests, mercon sauce tastes quite spicy thanks to the presence of red cayenne pepper and green cayenne pepper. To make it fresher, add lime juice.
Firecracker chili sauce is suitable to be eaten with other side dishes, such as fried fish, fried tofu, or fried tempeh.

Material:
- 100 grams red cayenne pepper (clean)
- 100 grams green cayenne pepper (cleaned)
- 3 red onions (roughly sliced)
- 1/2 teaspoon grilled shrimp paste
- 1 lime (halved, squeeze the juice)
- 4 tablespoons cooking oil (for frying)
- Salt to taste
- Pour cooking oil into a frying pan to heat, then cook the red bird’s eye chilies, green bird’s eye chilies and shallots until wilted.
- Remove, then transfer to a mortar along with the oil. Add grilled shrimp paste and season with salt according to taste, then grind. Pour in the lime juice, stir well. Serve with side dishes.
