Mbah Rumini’s style of crispy crispy eel

Blitar (ANTARA) – Eel is delicious as a side dish. It cannot be processed in various ways, some are made into pepes, fried in flour or without flour.

In Blitar Regency, there is a menu of processed eels. This is Mbah Rumini (66), a resident of Siraman Village, Kesamben District, Blitar Regency. In his hands, eels are made into culinary preparations in the form of crispy eels. The eel is fried in flour so that it becomes crispy or crunchy.

Mbah Rumini said that his shop has been open since 1991. Eel is one of the mainstay dishes.

The initial story was that there was a student from Kesamben who asked for fried eel with onion chili sauce. Unexpectedly, this actually made the stall even more popular.

“At first I thought it was strange, why do eels use chili sauce? However, now it has become a mainstay on the menu. So, eels are fried in flour with onion chili sauce,” he said in Blitar, Monday.

He said it was not difficult to get eels. Every day there are customers who send 10 kilograms of eels alive. The eels are then cleaned of dirt and ready to be fried in flour.

The eel is fried to order so it is still warm when served to customers. In one day, he can sell at least 180 portions of crispy eel.

The price of selling eels is also affordable, namely IDR 5,000 per portion. If you add rice it is IDR 7,000. Very affordable.

The taste of the crispy eel that Mbah Rumini sells is also very tasty. Apart from that, the flour coated on the eel is not hard so it tastes delicious. Coupled with super spicy onion chili sauce, so it’s perfect for spicy lovers.

In a day, Mbah Rumini needs 1.5 kilograms of chilies. There were also customers he already knew so he had no trouble getting chilies. Sambal portions are also daily. The chili sauce is made as soon as a customer orders it.

The portion of chilies is also not reduced when the price of chilies is high. According to Mbah Rumini, everyone has enjoyed it and has had good fortune, so they still want to prioritize customer satisfaction.

Currently, the crispy eel made by Mbah Rumini has also opened a branch. However, the main branch remains open.

Even though the location is in a remote area, this menu is still sought after by buyers. They came from various areas in Blitar and surrounding areas.

One of the buyers, Ali, said he often ate at Mbah Rumini’s stall. He likes spicy food so he feels satisfied when he eats crispy eel.

“It tastes delicious and I like the spicy taste,” said Ali.

Ana, another customer, said that the taste of the crispy eel made by Mbah Rumini was really delicious. He is also addicted to eating at this place, especially since the price per portion is very cheap.

“The rice is fluffy, delicious. The price is very cheap, especially since the price of rice is now expensive. Eating crispy eel with chili sauce, I added twice the rice,” said Ana.
