JAKARTA – Frans Faisal is very keen on seeing business opportunities. Through his social media platform, Frans successfully started a traditional Minang culinary business known as the Mamafuji brand. His business succeeded in achieving a turnover of billions of rupiah and attracted interest from various people and artists as customers.

The power of social media provides strong support in various aspects, including in the business world. Likewise, Frans started his business with videos of Padang food which he often eats on Instagram Stories.

“The first time I started Mamafuji was in 2022, the idea started when I told a story about eating rendang and garlic cake on Instagram. It turns out that many netizens are asking for and wanting this food. “Finally, because we saw a possible market, the Mamafuji brand was born,” said Frans.

However, starting a culinary business is not easy. Frans does a lot of market research for the food he will sell. Until finally, he chose the name Mamafuji as a brand name that describes the person who prepared the recipe, namely Dewi Zuhriati or familiarly known as Mamanya Fuji.

“The brand name Mamafuji was taken because the recipe and maker came from my mother, namely Mrs. Dewi Zuhriati, who is often called Oma Gala or Mama Fuji by netizens,” said the man who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in management.

Frans and Dewi finally agreed to present typical Payakumbuh products whose recipes are original and passed down from generation to generation, such as rendang, onion cake and beef jerky. Then the entire process, including sending goods to the expedition service, is carried out by both of them themselves.

When he started his business, Frans only relied on pre-orders or only produced goods that had been ordered by buyers via Instagram Story. But unexpectedly, he then received an order for 100 packs of garlic cakes within a few seconds.

“When looking at netizens’ responses to the story, on average netizens want garlic cake and rendang products. Finally I opened a pre-order for 100 pcs of this product. “Thank God it sold out immediately,” added Fujianti’s older sister Utami Putri or who is familiarly called Fuji.
