This decision was revealed through a post on Facebook. The company stated that this decision was very difficult to take.

The Long History of Hup Teck
Hup Teck was founded in 1914 in Gopeng, Perak, and has become an important part of Malaysia’s culinary heritage.
For more than a century, the company has been renowned for traditional fermentation methods passed down from generation to generation.
Images shared on social media show a classic view of this factory, namely hundreds of large clay barrels neatly lined up in a sunny open courtyard, clear evidence of an authentic production process.
There is no successor
However, over time, the sustainability of this business faces big challenges. The current owner, Low Bak Tong, along with his sister and nephew, are having difficulty continuing operations due to health problems.
Apart from that, the lack of a successor to continue the family business is the main reason behind this closure.

This announcement was greeted with sadness and shock from Hup Teck’s loyal customers. Many expressed their memories of Hup Teck’s soy sauce, which has been a part of their lives since childhood.
“So sad, this was my favorite soy sauce from childhood until now. I will never find better soy sauce than this,” wrote a Facebook user, Rachel Joseph.
More comments from Woody Derlycor. He even said that he could only consume Hup Teck.
He hopes that the skill of making soy sauce can be passed on to others so that the tradition and taste will remain alive.
End of an era
The closure of Hup Teck is not only the end of a business, but also the loss of a part of Gopeng’s cultural identity.
This factory not only produces soy sauce, but also maintains the tradition and art of making authentic soy sauce. The existence of old clay barrels still in use today is a symbol of the company’s dedication to quality and craftsmanship.
