Mai Hang Food Festival, Labuan Bajo Culinary Promotion Event


KOMPAS.com – Tourists can enjoy various culinary specialties from Labuan Bajo at the Mai Hang Food Festival event on Saturday (14/12/2024), in the garden area behind Plaza Marina Labuan Bajo.

This event was held in collaboration with the Labuan Bajo Flores Authority Implementing Agency (BPOLBF) together with the Deputy for Tourism Products and Activity Organizers of the Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar), and Indonesia Ferry Properti (IFPRO).

Apart from adding new events in Labuan Bajo, this event is also a means of displaying culinary delights in Labuan Bajo, in the sense that it is not only original or local culinary delights, but also other culinary delights that are developing in Labuan Bajo.

Deputy for Event Organizer Development at the Ministry of Tourism, Vinsensius Jemadu, said that the Mai Hang Food Festival does not only introduce culinary riches in Labuan Bajo.

However, it is also a form of the Ministry of Tourism’s commitment to supporting the growth of tourism sector products, one of which is through culinary products that are currently developing in Labuan Bajo.

“I hope that we can all love and preserve the culinary heritage of the archipelago more, as well as improve the welfare of the people of Labuan Bajo through developing and consuming various products in Labuan Bajo,” said Vinsen.

Typical Labuan Bajo culinary delights

Labuan Bajo itself currently has a variety of local culinary products which are still widely found on the market.

Some of these culinary products have also experienced innovation in terms of ingredients, flavors and choices that are adapted to the market demands of tourists who, after their holiday, buy souvenirs to take home.

Acting Main Director of BPOLBF, Frans Teguh said that the Mai Hang Food Festival is a space for culinary lovers to celebrate the culinary flavors in Labuan Bajo which are rich in local wisdom.

“We believe that food is not just a dish, but also a reflection of traditions and community identity. “This festival is also a form of our commitment to support sustainable tourism development while empowering local potential and all dishes developed from local food in Labuan Bajo,” said Frans.

He added, Mai Hang Food Festival 2024 offers many attractions, namely; A culinary bazaar that presents dozens of choices for festival visitors to enjoy, musical performances from local Labuan Bajo musicians.

There are some picnic areawhere visitors can enjoy the sensation of a picnic while enjoying culinary delights and musical performances, and a kids area that visitors can use.
