Low Voter Participation, Golput Vote Wins East Manggarai Regional Election

East Manggarai

The white vote (golput) won the East Manggarai Regent Election (Pilbup). The number of abstainers in East Manggarai reached 72,538 voters, far exceeding the vote tally of the winner of the 2024 Pilbup who received 51,178 votes.

The high number of abstentions means that voter participation in the 2024 East Manggarai Pilbup is relatively low, only reaching 67 percent. The East Manggarai General Election Commission (KPU) revealed a number of reasons for low voter participation.

“(The reason is because) someone left the area, someone died, someone changed their domicile,” said the Head of the Technical Division of the East Manggarai General Election Commission (KPU), Konradus A Sandur.
