TRIBUNNEWS.COM, PADANG – The West Sumatra (Sumbar) Minangkabau Customary Nature Association (LKAAM) carried out a rendang cooking activity together, Monday (5/12/2022).
Rendang assistance from West Sumatra will be sent to victims affected by the Cianjur earthquake, West Java.
TribunPadang.com reported that a number of mothers were getting ready to cook rendang.
All the equipment has been prepared, consisting of a cauldron, cooking ingredients including spices.
The rendang cooking process was carried out directly in front of the West Sumatra LKAAM Office, and was attended directly by Fauzi Bahar as Chair of the West Sumatra LKAAM.
Also present was the Head of the West Sumatra Province Cultural Service, Syaifullah.
The process of cooking rendang was assisted by police officers, soldiers from the Indonesian Army, TNI and Navy.
There were also officers from the Padang City Satpol PP, and women from the taklim assembly, as well as other members of the public.
“We have 10 stoves (fireplaces) today to cook rendang,” said Fauzi Bahar.
He said, this rendang is cooked in the morning so that by noon someone will already be cooking.
“There are also 1.9 tonnes of packed rendang which will be sent to earthquake victims on Wednesday (7/12/2022),” he said.
He explained that cooking on this day was only symbolic, because there were locations to cook rendang for earthquake victims in other places.
“Because there are several tons of cooked meat. After cooking, it will be packaged and sent directly to Cianjur,” he said.
Fauzi Bahar remembers that when an earthquake occurs, people only remember it for a month or two.
Meanwhile, many people’s houses still cannot be occupied after the earthquake.
“It was very difficult to find a craftsman after the earthquake,” said Fauzi Bahar.
Therefore, choose ready-to-eat rendang food so that it can be consumed by the public.
“We cook directly so that we can stimulate Minangkabau residents to preserve this rendang cooking,” he said.
Fauzi Bahar hopes that this activity can make the Minangkabau people more united in helping each other.
“Apart from that, if you cook it yourself, the results will be better, the results will be more abundant, and it will be more hygienic,” he said.
Previously reported, LKAAM West Sumatra invited the community to cook rendang together for earthquake victims in Cianjur, West Java Province.
This was conveyed by the Chair of the West Sumatra LKAAM, Fauzi Bahar, on Tuesday (22/11/2022).
“In the near future, to promote solidarity and raise aid for earthquake victims in Cianjur. We are inviting Regency/City LKAAM representatives to join directly here,” said Fauzi Bahar.
He hopes that by cooking it directly he can deliver a typical Minangkabau rendang dish with a delicious taste.
“We hope that all levels of society will participate, such as Bundo Kanduang, Ninik Mamak, teenagers and women’s organizations,” said Fauzi Bahar.
This plan will be implemented at the end of November.
Fauzi Bahar said that residents from Minang were reportedly also affected by the disaster which claimed hundreds of lives.
“We heard that Minang people were also victims of the earthquake in Cianjur. Temporary information is that 12 Minang residents in Cianjur also felt the impact of this earthquake,” said Fauzi Bahar.
Fauzi Bahar estimates that data on Minang residents living in Cianjur will continue to increase.
“We plan to come there directly. I got this information last night,” he said. (TribunPadang.com/Rezi Azwar)
