Liputan6.com, Jakarta – The Indonesian Culinary Association of Victoria (ICAV) in collaboration with the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in Melbourne held a 2025 Indonesian Street Food Festival (ISFF) at Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne. Raising the theme “Spice Up The World,” Referring to the name of the program that moves the gastronomic sector and Indonesian spices, the Indonesian Diaspora offers the wealth of the archipelago food to local residents as part of culinary diplomacy.
ISFF, which is part of the 2025 Melbourne Food and Wine Festival, was held for two days, namely 22–23 March 2025. The event was opened by the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Australia and Vanuatu, Siswo Pramono, accompanied by Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Melbourne, Kuncoro Waseso.
Although in the midst of Ramadan fasting, the Indonesian Diaspora is still eager to participate by serving the archipelago food that has an authentic taste. Visitors can find satay, rendang, gado-gado, fried rice, and traditional snacks, such as tempe mendoan and cendol ice, to taste.
The event was also used by other businesses who peddle various Indonesian products, such as spices, batik cloth, wood cooking utensils, and various handicraft results. The event was more lively with a variety of Indonesian cultural performances, ranging from pencak silat attractions that showed agile and meaningful movements, to regional dances from West Sumatra, West Java and Kalimantan.
There is also a music performance from the Maluku Basudara Melbourne community, Line Dance Tobelo who succeeded in attracting visitors to participate, as well as the clothes of the East Nusa Tenggara area worn by the host.
