La Kopi TLM, Serves the Taste of Original NTT Coffee


KUPANG, KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian Savings and Loans Cooperative (KSP) Tanaoba Lais Manekat (TLM) will soon launch original coffee drink products from East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Main Director of KSP TLM Indonesia, Zelsy NW Pah, said the product is called La Kopi TLM.

Zelsy said that the types of coffee used at La Kopi are Manggarai and Bajawa coffee, Ngada Regency.

“There are two variants, namely Arabica Flores Bajawa and Arabica Bajawa mix Robusta Manggarai,” said Zelsy, in a press conference with a number of journalists, Saturday (26/10/2024).

Competition for coffee product design

Before the coffee product was launched, continued Zelsy, his party held a design competition for La Kopi TLM coffee products with a total prize of IDR 88,850,000.

According to him, TLM introduced La Kopi products starting with building brand identity La Kopi through a competition model.

He said the choice of the name La Kopi was in accordance with the philosophical values ​​of KSP TLM Indonesia, namely the word La is taken from Spanish which means woman.

He said that the main target of KSP TLM Indonesia was women. Meanwhile, coffee is one of NTT’s leading commodities which is not widely enjoyed by NTT people.

So La Kopi is a coffee product produced by women who are the drivers of the household economy.

The reason why KSP TLM chose the competition model was to unite all the positive energy that is the strength of the La Kopi product which is known, consumed, loved and recommended as the main choice because it is genuine NTT quality organic coffee.

The implementation of this competition includes making packaging, logos, taglines, jingles and educational videos.

Ngada and Manggarai are rich in coffee

He explained that the development of La Kopi products was motivated by the real potential of around 600 coffee farmer members in Ngada Regency and Manggarai Regency.

Apart from that, there is also the potential for developing business relations in a collaborative pattern with the Ngada Regency Government, stakeholders others in the form of people concerned about geographical indications (MPIG) and coffee business actors in Bajawa.

According to Zelsy, La Kopi product development has a mission that is in line with Ngada Regency government policy.

Namely maintaining the authenticity of the varieties, quality and taste of coffee commodities that have received Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in the form of geographical indications, as well as efforts to maintain the sustainability of coffee commodities in the form of rejuvenation and improvement of the upstream sector.
