The General Election Commission (KPU) of Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT), has determined the recapitulation of votes in the 2024 Pilkada. As a result, the candidate pair (paslon) for mayor and deputy mayor of Kupang number 5, Christian Widodo-Serena Francis ( Christ-Serena) is superior to the other four candidate pairs.
Christ-Serena was declared a landslide winner in five sub-districts in Kupang City. According to the recapitulation results, Maulafa Christ-Serena District received 17,461 votes, Kelapa Lima District 10,831 votes, Oebobo District 18,127 votes, Kota Raja District 7,413 votes, and Kota Lama District 4,728 votes. Meanwhile, in Alak Subdistrict Christ-Serena collected 10,270 votes, losing to candidate pair number 4 Jefri Riwu Kore-Adinda Dia Nurak who won 11,810 votes.
“Today we are recapitulating the results of counting ballots for the election of governor-deputy governor and mayor-deputy mayor after we have completed the recapitulation at the sub-district level. And candidate pair number 5 is superior,” explained the Chairman of the Kupang City KPU, Ismail Manoe, to the media crew. , Friday (6/12/2024).
Ismail explained that after the plenary the candidate pairs were given the opportunity to submit legal action regarding the determination of the recapitulation of vote results by the Kupang City KPU to the Constitutional Court (MK). This legal action is limited to three days after the KPU determines the vote recapitulation.
“The results of the recapitulation determination obtained today, there is still room for legal action by the team of candidate pairs, the legal effort is to file a dispute lawsuit at the Constitutional Court. However, there are limitations, to submit a dispute lawsuit to the Constitutional Court, it is three working days from the announcement of the results of the recapitulation of valid votes. ,” explained Ismail.
He also acknowledged that voter participation in the 2024 regional elections would decline. “The DPT in Kupang City had 275,085 voters. However, in the election for mayor and deputy mayor of Kupang there were 192,752 votes,” explained Ismail.
