Know Pojok Magelang, a culinary specialty referenced by artists to presidents


Kediri (ANTARA) – Visiting an area is not complete with culinary hunting. Food made from rice is always interesting to try.

In East Java, there are lontong tofu, vegetable kupat, and various menus made from rice or white rice.

However, if you visit Magelang, Central Java, there is also a menu from Kupat. When visiting this city, it’s a good idea to stop by to taste kupat tofu.

Kupat tofu culinary is typical of Magelang. What is quite busy is Tahu Pojok Magelang. This kiosk is located on Jalan Army Student Number 14, Magelang City, Central Java.

Entering this location, you are immediately greeted by a wall full of photos, from artists to the President.

They include the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and his wife, artist Christine Hakim, Indro Warkop DKI, and many other famous figures who stopped by this place.

As the name suggests, kupat tofu, is a food containing kupat, fried tofu and vegetable bakwan. Topped with vegetables such as sprouts, cabbage and celery. Doused with peanut sauce, sprinkled with fried onions and chili sauce, this delicious food will relieve hunger.

This food stall was founded in 1942 and remains a culinary reference in Magelang to this day. One portion of this food is quite affordable, around IDR 18 thousand per portion. As a complement, there are many side dishes that can be enjoyed.

Bian, a Kediri resident who visited this stall, admitted that he felt a different taste sensation. This culinary delight is sweet and savory. “It tastes sweet and savory, but this is quite delicious. With lots of chili sauce, it’s even better,” said Bian, who really likes spicy food.
