Jakarta –
Eating instant noodles while on a diet is not recommended. But there are still many people who often do this.
Instant noodles, apart from being cheap and easy to get, have a delicious taste and are practical to make. In several countries such as India and Indonesia, instant noodles are a food consumed by millions of people every day.
Many questions arise, is eating instant noodles while on a diet healthy? Of course the answers vary, but according to a popular Indian dietitian named Simrat Kathuria, it is best to avoid eating instant noodles while on a diet.
Reporting from Food ndtv (25/11), Simrat explained the effects of instant noodles in her viral Instagram video, which has been watched more than 2.7 million times. In the video, he explains that instant noodles are delicious, and have become part of everyday life.

He also explained that in India the most popular instant noodle brand is Maggi. Well, in one pack of Maggi there are around 205 calories and 9.9 grams of protein. Meanwhile, carbohydrates for a portion of Maggi range from 131g.

“Even though instant noodles like Maggi have lower calories than snacks or other foods, it’s actually fine to eat instant noodles when on a diet. But this food doesn’t contain many vitamins, no fiber or minerals. In fact, these instant noodles have the potential to contain chemicals from food preservatives,” explained Simrat.
He also said that most instant noodle brands are not packed with adequate protein and fiber, so they are not actually ideal for consumption when losing weight.
“It’s best to limit your consumption of instant noodles if you’re on a diet. The maximum is to eat instant noodles 1-2 times a month, no more than that. Don’t forget to add vegetables to these instant noodles to make them healthier,” suggested Simrat.

In contrast to Maggi, well-known instant noodle brands in Indonesia such as Indomie, for example, have higher calories.
Reporting from the Fatsecret ZA website, one pack of Indomie Mi Goreng contains around 386 calories, with 8g of protein.
So once again, eating instant noodles while on a diet is fine, as long as consumption is limited, and you have to be smart in choosing instant noodle brands that have low calories so that the weight loss process is not hampered.
