How to Make Tofu with Oyster Sauce, Recipe Ideas for Cooking from Tofu


KOMPAS.com – Tofu is a food ingredient that is easy to obtain, and comes in various types. If you are looking for a tofu recipe, you can make tofu with oyster sauce which is relatively easy.

The tofu for this recipe is Chinese tofu. This tofu is white and has a soft texture, even tends to be fragile. Usually Chinese tofu is sold in large or small boxes.

Here’s a recipe for tofu with oyster sauce that you can try, according to the book “Tofu Cooking Variations” from the DeMedia Kitchen Team (2008) published by Demedia Pustaka.

Material:

  • 2 Chinese tofu (cut into cubes)
  • 150 ml water
  • 1 tsp cornstarch or cornstarch (dissolve with a little water)
  • Sufficient cooking oil

Seasoning ingredients:

  • 3 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
  • 7 curly red chilies (sliced ​​diagonally)
  • 1 spring onion (finely sliced)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp stock powder (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp white sugar
  1. Pour oil into a frying pan to heat, fry the tofu until half cooked. Remove, set aside.
  2. Fry the garlic until aromatic, add the chilies and spring onions. Cook again until wilted. Season with other spices, then pour in the water. Leave it to boil.
  3. Pour in the cornstarch and water solution gradually while stirring, add the tofu which is still half cooked. Stir and cook until thickened. Lift, serve.
