Material

  • 2 fingers of brotowali stem
  • 2 glasses of water
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 cinnamon stick (optional for milder aroma and taste)

How to Make Brotowali that is Not Too Bitter

  1. Cleanly wash the brotowali stems to remove any dirt stuck to them. Cut the stems into small pieces to make them easier to boil.
  2. Boil brotowali with cinnamon in 2 glasses of water until boiling. Let the water boil for 10-15 minutes until the color turns brown.
  3. After boiling, cool and strain the boiled water into a clean glass or container.
  4. Add 1 tablespoon of honey to the boiled water, then stir until smooth. Honey functions to reduce the bitter taste and add health benefits.
  5. The concoction is ready to be served. Drink warm for a better taste, or store in the refrigerator to drink cold.
