Apple Cider Vinegar Dosage

The standard dose of apple cider vinegar that can be taken per day is 1-2 tsp (5-10 ml) to 1-2 tbsp (15-30 ml). This dose can be divided into 2-3 drinks a day.

It’s best to start consuming apple cider vinegar with small doses and avoid drinking large amounts straight away. Consuming too much of it has side effects such as erosion of tooth enamel and potential interactions with other medications you are taking.

Benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar

Reported by Healthline and WebMD, the following are the benefits of drinking apple cider vinegar for overall health:

1. Helps Lose Weight

Drinking apple cider vinegar can make you full longer. This can reduce calorie consumption so that body weight decreases.

The 2024 study showed a significant reduction in body weight, body fat ratio, waist circumference, and body mass index (BMI) in participants who consumed apple cider vinegar every day for 12 weeks.

2. Control Blood Sugar Levels

Apple cider vinegar helps treat type 2 diabetes. This type of diabetes is characterized by high blood sugar levels caused by the inability to produce insulin or insulin resistance.

A 2019 clinical trial found that drinking apple cider vinegar had a good effect on the glycemic index and oxidative stress in people with diabetes and dyslipidemia. A 2021 review also noted that its consumption may benefit adults’ glycemic levels.

The glycemic index itself is an indicator that shows how quickly carbohydrate foods can increase blood sugar in the body.

3. Relieves eczema

Some eczema sufferers use apple cider vinegar to relieve their skin symptoms.

Skin is naturally slightly acidic and acid levels may be reduced in people with eczema. Using diluted apple cider vinegar topically helps rebalance the skin’s natural pH thereby increasing the skin’s protective layer.

However, research reports that using apple cider vinegar has little effect and can irritate the skin of some people.

According to studies, apple cider vinegar can stabilize HDL and LDL levels, triglycerides and total cholesterol. This means that apple cider vinegar is beneficial for heart health and prevents it from contracting a number of diseases.
