One of the most popular coffees in Gorontalo is robusta coffee, Pinogu Coffee. In Gorontalo, coffee beans were first brought by traders from the Netherlands, right in 1677.

Meanwhile, from a historical perspective, Pinogu Liberica coffee, which originates from Bone Bolango Regency, was Queen Wilhelmina’s favorite coffee drink in the Netherlands in 1879.

Hundreds of years later, to be precise in 1970, Pinogu coffee increasingly developed and became popular with many people. Then in 2013, Pinogu robusta coffee took part in the International Tourism Bourse event in Berlin, Germany. The coffee is famous internationally because of its unique taste, and is claimed to be one of the most expensive coffees in the world.

Even though they are processed and mixed with civet droppings, these coffee beans are of high quality, because they have gone through fermentation during the digestion process.

The price is quite expensive per 500 grams, the price can reach USD 600 (Rp. 9.4 million). Meanwhile, the price of premium luwak coffee per cup can reach USD 100 (Rp. 1.5 million). So it’s not surprising that this coffee is sought after by coffee fans from all over the world, even though it comes from soft dirt.

3. Sarongge Coffee

Sarongge coffee comes from the Sarongge area, Cianjur, West Java. The quality of these selected coffee beans has won international awards. One of the sarongge kpi farmers is Tosca Santoso. It is known that Tosca is now a coffee farmer who won an international award in early 2022.

Reporting from the Farmdirectory website, the coffee plantation that produces sarongge coffee has been managed since 2016. The location is in Sarongge village, Cianjur, West Java. The location is cool close to Mount Gede Pangrango.
