Jakarta –
Fruit is known as a healthy snack with a delicious sweet and sour taste. However, not all fruit is suitable for consuming too much because it has a high sugar content.
The sweet taste of fruit is obtained from the sugar content in it. However, the natural sugars in fruit are different from the added sugars found in many sweet foods.
Fruit contains the natural sugars fructose, glucose and sucrose. However, because fruit also contains fiber, it is digested more slowly. That way, the sweet taste of fruit doesn’t actually cause blood sugar to spike drastically.
In contrast to sugary foods, the digestion process is faster. Added sugar will result in a rapid increase in blood glucose.
Even though they have many health benefits, some fruits are known to contain quite high levels of sugar compared to others.
Differences in sugar content can be important for diabetes sufferers who must monitor their daily sugar intake. According to Medical News Today, below is a list of fruits that are highest in sugar.
