Jakarta (Antara) – The United States Food and Drug and Drugs Administration (FDA) (FDA) is revealed new plans to improve the safety of Berry Norovirus or enteric virus.
“Most of the fresh and frozen fruit consumed in the US is consumed safely,” said FDA spokesman Janell Goodwin as reported by Health, Wednesday (12/2).

The FDA also prepared a preventive strategy to improve the practice of food security and sanitation throughout the industry which gave global, as well as increasing scientific knowledge about how to detect and stop the spread of the enteric virus.
In detail, the strategy includes socialization of appropriate cleaning practices for field workers, management of sanitation facilities, steps to monitor and limit the transmission of viruses among agricultural workers and other facility workers.

The FDA also wants to better understand how it can survive in the agricultural environment and processing in the fruit.
Meanwhile, Food Science Consultant Brian Quoc Le recommends that the FDA prevention strategy is focused on the use of modern scientific methods to assess the risks that exist in Beries by combining laboratory analysis, data, and statistics to determine problems arise and stop the source.
Quoc le advised the public to consume local berries or from domestic producers and avoid frozen fruits sourced from foreign imports.
He also suggested, as an effort to prevent, consumers were asked to rinse the berries with cold water before consuming. To wash thoroughly, add one teaspoon of baking soda with cold water in a bowl, soak the berries in a bowl for five to 10 minutes before rolling it.
When slicing fresh berries, wash the equipment and surfaces with soap and water to avoid cross contamination with other foods.
