Everyone may produce gas, but some people produce excess gas. The main causes of excessive gas production could be eating high fiber foods, drinking energy drinks, eating too fast, consuming artificial sweeteners, and many more.

In fact, the release of gas from the body after eating is common. But not those who emit painful, foul-smelling excess gas.

To avoid conditions like this, you should start paying attention to the food you consume every day. There are several healthy ways to avoid excessive farting which are summarized from several sources.

1. Avoid foods that trigger gas

Some foods are known to have high gas content, such as foods called FODMAPs. FODMAP is an abbreviation for fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols, reports everydayhealth.com (16/11).

This ingredient is a short chain sugar or carbohydrate found in many foods that is difficult for the small intestine to absorb.

For those who are sensitive to FODMAPs but still consume them, this will cause symptoms such as bloating, diarrhea, constipation and stomach ache.

If you feel sensitive to FODMAP foods, you should start avoiding them. You can also follow a low FODMAP diet which according to scientific evidence can improve painful GI (Gastrointestinal) symptoms, including excessive gas.

Foods that are high in gas include fruit such as apples and pears, vegetables such as broccoli and onions, dairy products ranging from milk to ice cream.

2. Eat foods that help reduce gas

To reduce gas production in the body, there are several foods that must be consumed. Indeed, a person cannot completely stop intestinal gas in the body. But consuming safe food can help minimize the gas that comes out.

There are several foods that can be consumed to reduce gas. Include eggs, fish, lettuce, tomatoes, melon, and lean meat in a plate of food. Protein intake should also be included more frequently to avoid excessive farting.

Meanwhile, to avoid flatulence, you can try sipping some herbal teas, one of which is chamomile which will soothe and peppermint tea.
