Apart from stir-fried firecrackers, Farel also tasted tempeh mendoan and wedang uwuh, a unique Jogja spiced drink. According to Farel, the name uwuh, which means trash, refers to the large amount of spices floating in the glass, giving the impression of trash. This Wedang Uwuh received an extraordinary rating from Farel, namely 12/10 because of its deliciousness and uniqueness.
Not stopping there, Farel continued to Tengkleng Gajah, a restaurant with large portions that served various variations of tengkleng such as fried tengkleng and tengkleng curry. Even though the name is elephant, this restaurant doesn’t actually serve elephant meat, but rather goat and beef. Tengkleng Gajah received a rating of 8/10 from Farel.
At the end of his culinary adventure, Farel visited Sate Klathak Pak Pong, a typical Jogja satay that uses bicycle spokes as meat skewers. Historically, bicycle spokes were chosen because they cooked meat evenly. Farel likes the unique taste of klathak satay, which is soft and tasty, giving it a rating of 8/10.
Farel stayed at Hubs Hostel Yogyakarta, an affordable accommodation suitable for tourists who want to save on travel costs. For you to enjoy Farel Tarek’s complete culinary reviews, visit his YouTube account at @farelogic
