Erick Thohir wants to make a coffee market in the Netherlands, market Indonesian coffee

Roemah Indonesia BV supported by PMO Kopi Nusantara will hold a coffee market in the Netherlands with the theme ‘Indonesian Coffee Market; Coffee Revolution ‘

Uniquely, the big event which was held on September 1-7 2022 will bring visitors to know Indonesian coffee trips, ranging from watching the historical exhibition of coffee production, as well as various types of coffee and its derivative products, while also trying a variety of original coffee from Indonesian plantations.

The aim is to raise Indonesia’s position to become an important actor in the Indonesian coffee trade supply chain at the international level. In addition to seeking coffee marketing with better added value so that export sales increase significantly.

In this exhibition the diversity and continuity of coffee towards nature and its sustainability in the future is also well distributed. The exhibition will be held at Posthoornkerk, Amsterdam.

BUMN Minister Erick Thohir is scheduled to attend and officially open the coffee market exhibition, which was enlivened by the exposure of Amir Sidharta and Boni Triyana as curators and designers of the first Indonesian coffee history exhibition in the world.

In addition to talk-show with world-renowned coffee figures, coffee lovers can also witness firsthand the coffee cupping and coffee pairing sessions, and enjoy Indonesian specialties in the Unlimited Brewing Session area.

In the last 10 years, the Indonesian coffee industry has experienced significant growth of 250%. Now Indonesia ranks fourth in the amount of coffee produced, and this superior commodity is the third largest foreign exchange earner after oil palm and rubber.

“The implementation of the coffee market in Amsterdam is expected to be able to bring together foreign consumers, especially the European Union, in enjoying a variety of coffee from Indonesia. In early 2022, BUMN Minister Erick Thohir had launched the Initiative Project Management Office (PMO) of Nusantara Coffee to increase domestic coffee productivity with a prosperous program scheme that had been applied in other commodities such as rice, sugar cane, and corn. The purpose of PMO Kopi Nusantara is to improve the coffee business ecosystem from upstream to downstream.

“Why is BUMN tapped, because 96% of the coffee industry is a people’s plantation. Our ultimate goal is the welfare of farmers,” said Erick Thohir at the launch of the initiative.

Dwi Sutoro, Director of Marketing of the Nusantara Plantation Holding, which was appointed by the Minister of SOEs as Chairman of the Nusantara Coffee PMO, added that his party would actively participate in the coffee market to be held in Amsterdam.

“The coffee market in Amsterdam is indeed in line with the PMO Coffee Nusantara mission, which is to improve the supply chain of the domestic coffee industry. We will bring Indonesia’s best coffee from the location of our pilot project, including Ijen Coffee from East Java which has historical and indicated value “Geographical will attract the attention of global consumers,” he said.

Among the various coffee stories and the perpetrators that will be displayed on the coffee market in Amsterdam are planting in villages in the Sulawesi forest boundaries, the use of Sumatra’s sleeping lands, critical land references in West Java, and Waerebo indigenous community gardens in Flores .

The Indonesian coffee ecosystem includes the highlands that grow Arabica coffee, the people’s coffee plantations in the lowlands that produce robusta, as well as peatlands where liberika coffee can grow well.
