Effect of the surge in world Robusta prices, Malang coffee farmers also profit


MALANG, KOMPAS.com – The surge in world robusta coffee prices has caused the price of Tirtoyudo robusta to rise grades A raw (green beans) in Malang Regency coffee plantations also increased threefold.

The price of raw robusta in Malang has increased 3 times

“The price of Tirtoyudo robusta coffee also rose last month to IDR 80,000 per kilogram which is random, if grades A to IDR 86,000 per kilogram. “Last year the highest was only IDR 30,000 per kilogram,” explained the coffee plantation owner and robusta coffee farmer Tirtoyudo Malang Surat Untung when contacted. Random quality coffee is raw coffee from gardens that has not been sifted or sorted.

“If it’s sifted, it’s there grades A, B and C. The prices vary,” said Surat.

The increase in the price of Tirtoyudo robusta coffee beans benefits coffee farmers because it can cover operations such as repairing gardens and fertilizing.

Previously, the price of robusta was only around IDR 30,000 per kilogram, which burdened farmers, for example on fertilization.

However, the increase in robusta prices has reduced sales, such as supplies to one of the cafes in Malang City.
