Reported from detikFoodCesar Lara’s diet expert explained that related to the intermittent and coffee diet. Lara revealed that coffee was not a dangerous drink for the diet method.

Black coffee, besides being free of calories, there are also a few protein and other minerals, such as potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, manganese, folate, and choline. Coffee also contains high caffeine. In 237 milliliters (ml) coffee (1 cup) coffee consists of 80-100 milligrams (mg) of caffeine.

“If you drink coffee, the coffee must be black. It should not be mixed with other ingredients that contain calories,” said Lara.

According to Lara, black coffee is basically a calorie free drink and does not trigger insulin reactions. Insulin is a hormone that helps the body in storing glucose for energy.

When avoiding foods and drinks that stimulate insulin production, it will help in burning body fat. This will certainly be useful for the intermittent diet.

In addition to burning fat, caffeine in coffee is a stimulant that can help brain function and provide a little energy. Caffeine which is an active compound in coffee can increase a person’s focus. It also helps in suppressing appetite temporarily.

However, if you add cream in a cup of coffee or insert other substances, it will prevent the intermittent diet. Because, milk, cream, sugar, or other flavoring syrup can add calories to a cup of coffee. Artificial sweeteners added can also stimulate the release of insulin in some people so that blood sugar does not decrease.

In fact, the way the intermittent diet works is to reduce glucose which then decreases insulin. However, if black coffee is felt too bitter, you can add a little cinnamon to balance the taste without adding calories.

The intake of black coffee during the intermittent diet is also not excessive. Lara warns excessive consumption can cause side effects, such as stress that makes the body produce its own sugar.
