Jakarta –
Many people drink coffee while dieting to lose weight faster. But is it true that drinking coffee really has the effect of losing weight?
When dieting to lose weight, drink intake needs to be considered. Including avoiding sweet and high-calorie drinks. Therefore, dieters rely on water, plain tea and black coffee.
Good news for coffee lovers because consuming their favorite drink actually helps them lose weight faster. Coffee is believed to increase the body’s metabolic rate through a number of active substances in it.
Quote We Are Littles (9/7/2021), here are 9 reasons why drinking coffee is good for your diet:
1. Caffeine burns calories
A laboratory study published in the journal Food & Function in 2012 revealed that the caffeine in coffee stimulates thermogenesis, which is the body’s process of producing heat.
The more heat the body produces, the more calories it burns. This condition certainly accelerates weight loss.

Caffeine provides a major energy boost to help the body burn more fat stores instead of muscle’s limited carbohydrate stores. If drunk 30 minutes before exercise, coffee improves physical performance and can make you exercise for longer.
As a result, the number of calories wasted will be greater and weight loss will be faster. It is recommended to just drink black coffee or you can also mix coffee into a protein shake that you drink before exercise.
3. Coffee increases metabolic rate
It is important to achieve optimal body metabolic processes when dieting. Because the higher the body’s metabolic rate, the more calories it burns so that calories do not accumulate in the form of fat.
Caffeine is said to increase the body’s metabolic rate by 3-11%. So there’s nothing wrong with making coffee part of your diet menu.
4. Coffee is rich in antioxidants

Weight loss expert, Keri Glassman, revealed in her book The O2 Diet that consuming antioxidants is important for losing weight.
Antioxidants protect the body from damage caused by harmful molecules called ‘free radicals’. Interestingly, the Western diet gets 79% of its antioxidants from drinks, not food. In research conducted in Finland & Norway, coffee was shown to be the largest source of antioxidants, providing approximately 64% of total antioxidant intake.
5. Caffeine moves fat from fatty tissue
Caffeine has been shown to send signals directly to fat cells to break down fat. Fat needs to be broken down before it can be used and removed from the body through physical activity.
Coffee also increases adrenaline levels in the blood, which helps this fat breakdown process. This is why caffeine is used as an ingredient in most weight loss supplements and diet pills.
