Green tea is a tea that is commonly consumed in Japan and China. Not only because of its delicious taste, but green tea also has various benefits for the body. These include maintaining the body’s immunity and helping with weight loss.
Reporting from Food NDTV (25/11), the benefits of green tea were conveyed by Ayurvedic health coach Dimple Jangda. There are 3 benefits that can be felt from consuming green tea:
1. Low calories
According to nutritionist Rupali Datta, green tea is usually consumed hot and without sugar. So, consuming 2-3 cups of this tea will not affect your calorie intake throughout the day. In 1 cup (240 ml) green tea contains around 3 kcal of calories.
2. Overcome Hunger
If you are hungry, green tea can be consumed to overcome it. Therefore, green tea is good to consume when dieting. According to Datta, drinking green tea is the same as drinking water, because the more you drink, the fuller you will be.
3. Rich in antioxidants

Green tea also contains high antioxidant substances. This content can improve health, one of which is increasing metabolism and maintaining digestion. The polyphenols in tea can also detoxify the body.

According to nutritionist Akanksha J Sharda, drinking green tea on an empty stomach is not recommended. This is because green tea can cause dehydration and stimulate the release of stomach acid.
So, when is the best time to consume green tea?
Ayurvedic health coach Dimple Jangda suggests the best time to consume green tea is between meals. At least 2 hours before and 2 hours after eating.
If you consume it at odd times, nutritionists recommend adding spices. Such as ginger and cardamom to increase its healthy properties.
