However, these potatoes have quite low calories compared to the calories of bread (265 cal), pasta (131 cal) and rice (130 cal) per 100 grams. Several researchers also explain the most appropriate way to cook and process potatoes to make them healthier.

One of the researchers named Professor Candida Rebello, who is a dietitian from the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in America, explained the effects of potatoes.
“People often eat the same portions of food without paying attention to calories, so they feel full. So by eating foods that are quite large in portions, but low in calories, this can help reduce calorie intake. The key to this research is, we did not reduce participants’ food portions , but instead reduce their calorie intake by adding potatoes,” said Candida.
“Each participant adjusted to their personal calorie needs, by replacing the meat menu with potatoes. The result was that participants became full more quickly, and they couldn’t even finish their food. This effect is what makes them lose weight without the need for complicated efforts,” he continued.

Although potatoes are often associated with weight gain, which can cause type two diabetes and heart disease.
However, researchers believe that as long as potatoes are eaten in reasonable portions and processed correctly, they can be a source of solid, low-calorie food that is good for the body.
