Jakarta (ANTARA) – Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar said Indonesia should not only be a market that Southeast Asian startups need but should also be a successful developer in its own country.
“Because 50 percent of Southeast Asia’s population is from us, every one startup pitching competition there must be one Indonesian slide as the biggest market in Southeast Asia, but now we don’t want to just be a market, we want to be a producer, a developer, a talent that can be developed recognized worldwide,” said Irene at the launch of the Local Snacks (JJL) application in Jakarta, Friday.
Irene said that there are many Indonesian talents or products that are well known abroad but are still scattered according to their categories.
Like the Museum of Toys, a game application developer that has been recognized in international awards, Irene hopes that Indonesia will be more recognized worldwide for its creative economy products.

However, this requires commitment from various stakeholders and the private sector to be able to have a significant economic impact for the country.
He also said that local MSMEs also need to learn from foreign products so they can improve quality and learn about product development.
“Because it is foreign products “We can learn what we can improve from there. Of course, ladies and gentlemen, we need to share with MSMEs, we share with our creators what we can improve,” he said.
With the presence of the Ministry of Creative Economy, Creative Economy Agency, he said that not only startups but also from the industrial and banking sectors to related ministries could join together to advance Indonesia towards a Golden Indonesia within a maximum of five years.
